I got Amy’s book for my teen son but I read it first and I wish I had had this book when I was young.It is full of great information written in a fun easy way to read and understand.Dating is a time of social experimentation for teens.It’s a time to test out which type of partners appeal to them, and how they can negotiate a romantic relationship.Users make a profile, posting a selfie photograph or video, then flick through all the other people on the site.In exactly the same way as with the adult version, they can then ‘swipe right’ if they like the look of someone, or left if they don’t.Most of us know that we should be doing a better job of talking to our kids about teen dating, sex, and love. Their insights will give you a basis for a more meaningful conversation with your teenager.
I want to encourage teens to balance all those deep feelings of love with some practical attention to detail. Young women are especially fond today of claiming they can hook-up without emotional connection.
Try to be open to discussing it, rather than lecturing them.
You want them to listen to your opinion, yet at the same time feel they are making up their own mind.
How teenagers and young adults couple is a strong predictor of how they’ll connect later in life, so we want to take it seriously.
